EVO ICL (Implantable Contact Lenses)

Our Implantable Contact Lenses (EVO ICL) procedure can precisely treat a wide range of nearsightedness (myopia) and blurred vision (astigmatism).

Implantable Contact Lenses (EVO ICL)

Our EVO ICL procedure is an excellent alternative option for those who might otherwise choose LASIK, Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA), or SMILE. ICLs are the procedure of choice for higher amounts of nearsightedness and astigmatism.

What Are Implantable Contact Lenses?

An implantable contact lens, or ICL, is an artificial micro-lens used to correct vision. They are an alternative to traditional contact lenses and are sometimes called a Collamer Lens or Phakic Intraocular lens.

How Does ICL Work

How Does EVO ICL Work?

Unlike traditional contact lenses, which sit on the surface of your eye, EVO ICL lenses are surgically inserted into your eyes. They sit between your iris (the colored bit of your eye) and your natural lens. They work by bending or refracting light onto your retina, which is where your optic nerve is. When light hits your retina, it processes a picture from the light, and your brain forms a clear picture, all without the help of glasses.

What’s the Difference Between LASIK and ICL?

A LASIK procedure will permanently change the shape of your cornea to restore your vision by removing small amounts of cornea tissue. With
ICL, our specially trained surgeons will implant a custom-selected Collamer lens (collagen-based) while leaving your natural lens intact. Unlike traditional contact lenses, the ICL never needs to be removed for cleaning. Unlike LASIK, ICL lenses are removable, making the treatment reversible.

Who Should Consider ICL

Who Should Consider EVO ICL?

Here at Magruder Laser Vision, we recommend the ICL treatment for those who want to reduce their dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses or suffer from nearsightedness or astigmatism.

  • You have thin or irregular corneas

  • You do not qualify for LASIK, ASA, or SMILE.
