Be sure to bring sunglasses or goggles that offer 100% UVA and UVB protection with you. Pay attention to any of the rules you have heard about skin protection and apply them to your eyes – stay out of the sun during peak times of exposure, wear proper protection (sunglasses, not sunscreen!), and wear a broad-brimmed hat.
Wind Protection Wind damage to the eyes can cause redness, while any debris carried in the wind can lead to corneal damage. Sunglasses or goggles help tremendously with the wind, especially if you decide to drive a convertible at home, or on vacation.
Dry Air Florida is one of the most humid states in the United States. When you live in Florida, your skin and eyes become adapted to the humidity. While traveling to an arid area, such as Northern California, Arizona, or Wyoming, the difference in humidity can severely dry your eyes. Be sure to pack artificial tears. The atmosphere on a plane mimics the low humidity of arid states, so take similar precautions when boarding a flight.
